Stop cleaning gutters. Protect your home.
Iowa Gutter Guards installs premium gutter protection on homes across Central Iowa. We clean your existing gutters, make sure they drain correctly, and install guards designed for Iowa leaves, pine needles, roof grit, and heavy rain.
The gutter guard system we install
We install a low-profile stainless steel micro-mesh screen that is designed to mount on your existing gutters and handle real Iowa storms, not just gentle drizzle in a brochure.
Why we like this style of guard
- Stainless steel mesh will not warp, rot, or crumble like foam and plastic inserts.
- Low-profile panel that works with existing 5" and 6" K-style gutters on most asphalt roofs.
- Engineered to move real storm water, not just look clean in a brochure photo.
- Installed after a full gutter tune-up so the system actually drains before it is covered.
Our installation process
Every job follows the same checklist so your gutters actually work, not just look good in a photo.
Clean gutters & downspouts
We remove all leaves, needles, and debris from your gutters and blow out your downspouts to confirm they are flowing correctly.
Check slope & fastening
We inspect for sagging sections, improper slopes, and loose hangers. If water won’t move, gutter guards won’t fix it.
Install gutter guards
We install gutter guards designed to handle Iowa storms, fastening into the gutter and/or fascia per manufacturer specs.
Final walkthrough
We walk the property with you, talk through any problem areas, and review what was done before we leave.

What Central Iowa homeowners are saying
Real reviews that match how people actually talk about gutter problems in Central Iowa.
"No more water pouring over the front steps"
"Our place in Oskaloosa always overflowed in the front during heavy rain. After they cleaned everything and installed the guards, the water finally drains the way it should. No more sheets of water or winter ice buildup."
– Richard K., Oskaloosa, IA
"Went the whole season without climbing a ladder"
"We’re in Carlisle with big maples around the house. I used to be on the ladder constantly clearing out helicopters. They fixed the slopes, cleaned the gutters, and installed guards. Haven’t touched a ladder since."
– Melissa J., Carlisle, IA
"Solved our basement water issues"
"We’re outside Prairie City and always had water running toward the foundation. After the gutter tune-up and guards, the sump runs less and we haven’t seen water along the wall since."
– Tyler R., Prairie City, IA
"Stays put through storms and high winds"
"We’re on an acreage near Pella with pines dropping needles nonstop. The mesh guards have held up through the storms we got this year. Everything stays open and drains."
– Hannah S., Marion County, IA

Frequently asked questions
These are the same questions we answer by phone, text, and on our Google Business Profile. If you don’t see your question here, include it in your estimate request.
What areas of Iowa do you serve?
We focus on Central Iowa communities within an easy drive of the Des Moines metro. That includes cities like Des Moines, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Altoona, Waukee, Ames, Pella, Newton, Grinnell, Oskaloosa, and many nearby towns. If you’re in Central Iowa, there’s a good chance you’re in our service area.
Do gutter guards mean I will never clean my gutters again?
No system is truly “never ever clean again,” but a good micro-mesh guard should drastically cut down on ladder trips. Most homeowners just hose the top of the guards off once in a while, or ask us to check things during future exterior work.
Can you install gutter guards on my existing gutters?
In most cases, yes. As long as your gutters are sized correctly, fastened well, and not rotted out, we can clean, tune, and then install guards on your existing system. If we spot sections that are too far gone, we’ll point them out and give you options.
What type of gutter guards do you install?
We install a stainless steel micro-mesh system with a rigid aluminum frame. It’s designed to handle Iowa storms, maple helicopters, pine needles, and roof grit without the foam, plastic, or hood-style problems you may have seen before.
How much does gutter guard installation cost?
Pricing depends on total gutter footage, number of stories, roof pitch, and how much repair or tuning is needed before we install guards. We price each project after looking at your home and provide a clear written estimate before any work starts.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Estimates are free. Use the form on this page or text (515) 329-5128 with your address and a few photos of your gutters, and we’ll walk you through next steps.
What are your business hours?
Our phone and text hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. We are currently closed on Saturdays and Sundays. You can still submit the online form any time, and we’ll respond on the next business day.
Do gutter guards work in heavy rain?
Yes, when they are installed correctly and the gutters underneath are draining properly. We make sure the gutter line is pitched correctly and downspouts are flowing so water can move through the system instead of backing up and spilling over.
Will gutter guards cause water to overshoot the gutter?
Overshoot is usually caused by poor alignment at the roof edge, incorrect slope, or existing drainage problems. We fit and fasten the guards so water follows the surface into the gutter, and we address obvious gutter issues before we cover anything up.
Do gutter guards work with pine needles and small debris?
They can, but the details matter. Iowa homes deal with pine needles, roof grit, and small debris, so the guard needs the right mesh and a solid frame, installed tight at seams and corners so debris cannot sneak into the trough.
Will gutter guards cause ice dams in winter?
No. Ice dams are caused by heat loss and refreezing at the roof edge, not by gutter guards. Guards can help keep the gutter channel clearer, but insulation and ventilation are what actually prevent ice dam formation.
What if my gutters are sagging, leaking, or pulling away from the house?
Guards do not fix structural gutter problems. If we find sagging runs, loose hangers, or leaking seams, we will recommend repairing those issues first so the guard system performs the way it should.
How long does gutter guard installation usually take?
Most installs are completed in a single visit. The time depends on the home size, roofline complexity, and whether any tuning or repairs are needed before we install the guards.
Do I still need to maintain my gutters after guards are installed?
Maintenance is dramatically reduced, but nothing is truly zero-maintenance. Most homeowners just do an occasional visual check after major storms and, if needed, rinse the top surface to keep water intake consistent.
What happens after I request an estimate?
We confirm your address and a few details, then provide a clear written estimate based on your roofline and gutter layout. If we need photos or one quick on-site check to verify tricky sections, we will tell you up front and keep it simple.
